Wrong Turn 3 (2009)
We think this poster is effective and creative because the use of make up and lighting. The low key light suggests that it is a horror, and because of the blood on her body shows us that it is gore. The girl really stands out as she has the light shinning on her face showing shes the innocent victim additionally shes wearing a white t-shirt which shows she is innocent and pure. The expression on her face shows she scared and in pain. This poster also show the audience where its going to be set from the little log cabin surrounded by trees which tells us that its in the middle of no where, where no one can hear her scream.
The lettering stands out being white with a slight texture to it, the texture to it looks gagged and bumpy which could suggest that is what her body may end up looking like. The use of the colour red suggest danger, death and blood.
The Catch phrase at the bottom is unusual as you usually see something before it end up killing you, so this suggests its has a hidden jumpy side to the movie.
The light is surrounding the cabin this suggests that it is safer to stay inside the house and all they danger and evil happens out side the house because of all the darkness.

Drag me to hell (2009)
As a group we liked this poster because we think it is very effective, it stands out and also uses a lot of effect ways to attract an audience. The images look realistic and the poster itself doesn't give too much away but still keeps the audience interested enough to want to go and watch the movie.
The title on the poster ‘DRAG ME TO HELL’ doesn't steal the attention away from the image but still stands out because it is in capitals and is in white on top of bright colours from the fire. Having the title on top of bright colours is good because it doesn't make the title fade in and isn't left unnoticed. Also the title is in simple format which makes it easy to read but still makes it stand out. The tagline says ‘Christine Brown has a good job, a great boyfriend, and a bright future. But in three days, she’s going to hell.’ Having this as the tagline will leave the audience hooked as they want to know why she is going to hell because her live seems to be fine and she seems to be a good person, it is also a good tagline because it gives a little background on the film to the audience to keep them interested. The main colours which are used on the poster are orange, red, grey and black and the orange and red colours are used for the fire. Having the bright colours on mix with the dull colours makes the fire stand out to the audience and grabs their attention straight away. The red and orange colours can suggest death and evil so having these colours standing out to the audience the audience know straight away it is clearly a horror and also suggest to them that death and evil will be in this movie. The lighting in the poster is bright and is used in the house which suggests that this is where the movie is based in and is the main location. The house in the background surrounded by darkness and bad weather suggests that the bad things happen around or in the house and that the evil being is around or even inside the house. It also suggest that this is the females house and when the bad things happen to her it will be in her own home. The main image of the poster is a female which suggest that she is the main character in the movie. Having the female as the main character can suggest that the target audience of this movie is the younger generation as they can relate more and also could attract the male audience because she is a young female and also pretty. The way the female is portrayed shows that she is also the victim because she has her head tilted back with her mouth open and hands pulling her down, this shows that she is being attacked by something and leaves the audience hooked as they want to know why she is getting attacked and who by. This is a typical convention that is used in most horror movies as females often play the character of a victim, they have used a blonde female and this is also a typical convention used in horror movies because blondes are the typical victim and the first to die. The facial expressions on the female show to us that she is pain and can't bare it. But she is also aware of what is going on. In the poster someone’s hands are dragging the female down which shows someone wants her dead and also the fact flames are around shows she is being dragged into the flames which could relate to the title and mean she is being dragged down to hell. Also the hands on the women are not human like which shows to the audience that the killer/villain is supernatural which also gives away more of what the movie is about to the audience.

The Skeleton Keys (2005)
As a group we liked this poster because it has a deathly feel to it when someone from the audience looks at it. Due to the eye with the faded out house and boy in a wheel chair in it, automatically suggests to the audience that this person is dead and maybe it could just be a memory. However they grey hair in the eye brows also tell us as an audience that the person is old. We liked this as a group cause the old person that has possibly died introduces the spiritual side of life. The dark colours also imply its a ghost like horror. We liked that they changed the 'E' in keys to make it look like a key hole. the title has deathly red blood stains throughout it suggesting to us that maybe we should be prepared for gore. However i think the timing in which this film was brought out into cinema is odd due to horror films normally coming out in the autumn, winter season as it is stereotypically said to be dangerous and spookier more than the summer months as it is sunny which represents happy comedy and romantic genres.

World War Z (2013)
As a group we think that this poster is effective because it shows a powerful image, it gives the audience a sense of whats to come without giving the plot away. In the image we can see the sun disappearing in the mount of bodies and the dark clouds are starting to come. The sun is an indication of good and with it disappearing we get the impression that goodness is fading and bad things are about to take over. The people that are climbing are covered in a dark shade, this indicating that these may be the bad that is about to take over. In the back ground we can see a city that is being burnt out and has been ruined. This again giving us the idea that badness is taking over and destroying society. The dark clouds blowing over shows the dark that is overtaking and that and a bad phase is coming, causing society to fall. On this poster the big capital, red 'Z' stands out to the audience and the red is an indication of danger lying ahead. Also the fact that there is minimal images of the company tags emphasises the image and makes us realize the danger.

Our Practice Posters
We took the text from the new Evil Dead (2013) as our bridging task, Our task was to mirror the trailer we had chosen. Here we used a focal zoom on the hand to make it stand out. Also because the hand looks like it is coming out the ground may suggest that it could be a cry for help or someone in danger. The Evil Dead movie also concentrates on the hand and is focused on as you can see below. We kept the bright red colour as that does suggest danger, death, blood, evil and the devil which this movie relates too.

These are a few images we worked with to create our poster above, we looked at other evil dead posters and also looked at other horror movies that are focused around the hands.

This was our second poster we did but we made this one up our self, but we still used some inspiration from Mama. We used Mama for inspiration as this is another paranormal horror which includes a possession in the movie. Because the poster was of a persons face it allowed us to play around with tools such as air brush, wrinkle remover, lip tint, eye brow shape and tint, eye tint/shaped and blemish remover.
Planning
We thought 'The Frighteners' poster was a good idea for us to try and replicate because of the face appearing through the sheet, we thought about using a similar idea in our poster. Our idea was to have a face appearing through the book, but we thought that this would be a hard image to construct, so by looking at images similar to this and gain an understanding of whether this image would be achievable to create.
